Mission

The Anabaptist Heritage Foundation was founded on February 28, 2024 in Jeanguisboden (municipality of Corgémont) in the Bernese Jura in Switzerland. The founders are the Swiss Mennonite Association for Anabaptist History, the Memoria Mennonitica Association, the Swiss Mennonite Conference, the Evangelical Mennonite Community of Sonnenberg, the community of heirs of Isaac Zürcher and six private individuals.

The Foundation’s mission is to collect and catalog Anabaptist cultural heritage and make it accessible to interested audiences.

The Anabaptist movement emerged in the 16th century as part of the Protestant Reformation in what is now Switzerland. Anabaptists have been living in the Jura for around 450 years.

Through its collections and exhibitions, the Anabaptist Heritage Foundation wants to document and convey the history of the Anabaptist movement in Switzerland, especially in the canton of Bern, but also worldwide.
